Luke Tierney was a Chicago player notable for being the top scorer on the Hunter team that won the 2016 HSNCT and the 2017 HSNCT. He was controversial in the quizbowl community for once wearing a Rhodesia t-shirt to a tournament, and for disparaging behavior towards female teammates.

In high school, he played for Hunter and was club president. He was named a member of the Second Team for the 2016 HSQBRank All-World Teams and of the first team for the 2017 teams. In college, he was on the Chicago C team, which won Division 2 of the 2018 ICT.
