Saikrish Kolli (class of 2027) is a player for Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and has been an active member of the quiz bowl team since 7th grade. He began his quiz bowl journey with a focus on passive knowledge, later developing strong expertise in various subjects, especially literature. Saikrish has been a dedicated participant in both local and national tournaments, showcasing his academic skills.

Middle School Career (2020-2023)

Saikrish began competing in quiz bowl during the 7th grade and participated in Governor's Cup, where he developed a keen interest in literature. In 8th grade, he placed 8th in the state for Individual Quick Recall (IQR) at Governor's Cup and secured 3rd place at the NAQT state tournament. He also competed at MSNCT, narrowly missing the playoffs after a loss to St. Mark's.

During his middle school years, Saikrish focused on honing his quiz bowl skills and preparing for high school competition. His early experiences laid a solid foundation for his continued success in high school quiz bowl.

High School Career (2023-2027)

As a freshman at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Saikrish has participated in multiple victories for the quiz bowl team. His team took first place in both Quick Recall and overall standings at the Governor's Cup. Additionally, he was part of the B team that reached the playoffs at the HSNCT, finishing 97th out of over 320 teams, while the A team secured 8th place at nationals.

Academic Focus

Saikrish has mainly focused on literature but is now beginning to pick up science and fine arts.

Hosting Tournaments

In addition to competing, Saikrish actively contributes to the quiz bowl community by helping organize and host tournaments. Saikrish also hosted the Hundred Degrees Academic Competition (HDAC), an online quiz bowl tournament featuring 12 teams. He hopes to be able to host more in the future!
