The East Lansing High School quiz bowl team is a fairly decent team from Michigan that is notably not from the greater Detroit area.
This year, East Lansing won the NAQT Michigan State Championship over Detroit Catholic Central, and has repeatedly had extremely close games with DCC. Both teams are regarded among the top 10 or 20 teams in the country.
Recent History
After several years of not doing much, Kurtis Droge helped the team to start winning a few extra games. A 2006 win of QuizBusters and high placing at the Rube Goldberg Invitational qualified the team for the 2006 HSNCT. After deciding that an extra tournament would be fun, the team was extremely happy to reach the playoffs and ended up in a tie for 25th.
The team greatly improved the following year, and was able to place in a tie for 13th at the 2007 HSNCT and reach the playoffs at the 2007 NSC.
At the 2008 HSNCT, East Lansing finished with a tie for 5th place with Dorman A.
