Face-off Minnesota was a televised event held on May 2006. It was sponsored by Border Foods, the Star Tribune newspaper, and Twin Cities Public Television, the local PBS affiliate. NAQT and the MQBA intended for it to become an annual event, but for unknown reasons it ceased to continue. Teams qualified for Face-off Minnesota from top finishes at affiliated local NAQT tournaments. Affiliated tournaments included: Southwest Minnesota State University Tournament, etc

The tournament was held at the University of Minnesota - Rochester. Ken Jennings notably served as the moderator. During quarterfinal rounds, which first aired on May 14, 2006, Cretin-Derham Hall defeated Minnetonka 330-325 and Eden Prairie beat Mounds Park Academy 450-160. On May 21, 2006, Chaska defeated Armstrong and St. Thomas Academy defeated DeLaSalle. On May 28, Chaska defeated Cretin-Derham Hall and St. Thomas Academy defeated Eden Prairie to move into the finals, where St. Thomas Academy eventually scored a convincing victory over Chaska High School. The four members of the victorious team were Josh Mollner, Jack Boyle, Tom Sullivan, and Kevin Partington.
