Hinsdale Central High School is a public high school in Hinsdale, Illinois, west of Chicago. It competes in Class AA, the "large school" division, of the Illinois High School Association's (IHSA) State Championship Series.
The team was coached by Donna Watkins throughout the 1990s and for a few additional years. Under her, the team won the 1992 IHSA State Championship and finished 2nd in 1998 and 2002. The team historically never entered a large number of invitationals before 2013--most of its matches werw played within the West Suburban Conference, though now it often competes in the Northern Illinois Circuit.

History
While the school has had a string of conference, sectional, and regional titles in the past few decades, including several top 2 IHSA finishes, Hinsdale Central has not played a major role in the Illinois Quizbowl scene. As such, the program's history can be divided into two major eras.
Pre-Sunny (476 CE-2012 CE)
The Dark Ages, yo. These people didn't have Jesus, and engaged in barbaric practices as bloodletting, witchcraft persecution, and feudalism.
Age of Sunny (2013 CE-2015 CE)
Starting in the 2013-2014 school year, with the graduation of its five solid Varsity seniors, Hinsdale Central was left with a large talent/age vacuum, due to weak retention of '14 and '15 players. Sophomore Sunny Chen, the only member to have gone to Ace over the summer, naturally stepped up to the leadership position. He is literally the god of quizbowl. His court biographer, Ankush, helped spark the Chenolingian Renaissance, a new period of revival of the study of classical quizbowl texts.
The all sophomore and freshman team showed many signs of potential as the season went on, with decent placement and wins at major tournaments, many of which were attended unaffiliated.
Under the leadership of Sunny Chen, Hinsdale has a really bright future.
Post-Sunny (2016 CE-????)
Oh god, this is James writing from the future, and things are not good. After Sunny got a full-ride quizbowl scholarship to UChicago during Jr year, future me and Ankush took over the club and we really f¥cked it up. We decided we liked four-quarter format better, so we lobbied the conference to change to QU for questions, and are promoting this form of "fun quizbowl" through hosting weekly tournaments for middle schools every month. Sunny, if you are reading this, please don't take that scholarship, the future of DuPage County rests in your hands!!
