North Park Secondary School: School Reach Program

North Park Secondary School's "School Reach" team has existed since the 1980s, coming to prominence within its region in the last three years.

The team was not competitive in 2006, due to many of its stronger players attending an exchange to Paraguay. Thus, in 2007, expectations were not high. The Senior Team shocked the region with a fourth-place finish, including an early upset of St. Thomas Aquinas, and a seven game winning streak to complete the regular season.

The intermediate team was even more successful. Losing one game the entire year, they won the 2007 Peel Regional Championships.

In 2008, the team needed to rebuild itself, as all but one of its senior team members graduated. They finished in third place in their division, just missing a chance at qualifying for the regional championships.

In 2009, North Park rode a strong foundation to a first place finish in North Peel, but regrettably could not advance to Provincials. They also entered two teams in the inaugural Toronto Winter Invitational. The club continues to exist and thrive today under the leadership of Daniel Whitten and coach Jeff Imber.
