History
Perkins was recruited for Honaker's team after he was scouted during Alex Zachwieja's World Geography class in 8th grade. He had never participated in Quizbowl before, but had previous experience as a competitor in two National Spelling Bees, which he studied for using discipline that would later be applied to his Quizbowl career.
He would rotate between Honaker's A and B teams in the 2007-2008 Season before being part of a trio of 1000+ point scorers (in VHSL play) during his Junior year. During his first three years, he developed an extensive knowledge of Mythology to compensate for the loss of Orville J. Herndon after the 2008 season. He has since been named "the best Mythology player to come through Honaker" by Alex Zachwieja. He was also de facto Trash King for Honaker during the 2008-2009 season.
Playing Style
Early on, Perkins developed using the McKenzie Method. During early years, his play was inconsistent. Some of his play even resulted in the occasional negstorm. As of recently, he started mixing in use of the Yaphe Method, and in a tight spot resorts to standard lateral thinking.
