WGEM Academic Challenge

The WGEM Academic Challenge is an annual televised quiz bowl tournament held in Quincy Illinois at John Wood Community College. Every January, John Wood plays host to this locally televised tournament. 16 teams qualify, with the eight teams advancing to the quarter-finals appearing on local television broadcasted by WGEM, a local NBC affiliate. The Quarter-final, Semi-final, and Championship round are televised incrementally over the next few months after competition. The tournament uses NAQT TV questions.
During this tournament an “All Star Challenge” is also held, which is an individual competition between 8 representatives of the quarter final teams.
