Matthew Sherman took over the UCLA club upon the resignation of his predecessor during the middle of the 2003 season and served as its president from 2003 to 2005. Prior to this, he captained Capistrano Valley to three national tournaments in 2000 and 2001, including a t-5th place at the 2001 HSNCT. He currently works as a researcher for Jeopardy!.
Outside of the UCLA club, much of Matthew's notoriety stems from his questionable Division II eligibility at the 2004 ICT.
