With a team of Jim Paluszak, Rohit Gajendragadkar, Patrick Mullins, Catherine Robe, and Jeff Robertson, this team won the National Academic Championship by defeating Collegiate on the last tossup of the final. Jim Garrick, Jan Francis and Nancy Welborn were the coaches. This team also won Panasonic and the last Stars 2000, and finished second at ASCN. This was widely regarded as the most impressive record of national-level achivement before the modern era.
