Central High School in Macon, Georgia, often known as Central-Macon or Macon-Central, has had a strong quizbowl team, winning several state titles over the past decade.

The team had a successful three-year stretch from 2002-2004, winning the Georgia Academic Team Association Class AAA State Championship all three years. The 2002 team attended the Pepperdine phase of the National Academic Championship, finishing in the final four.

In 2003 and 2004, Central-Macon competed in the NAQT HSNCT. In 2003, at Myrtle Beach, Central went 7-3 in the preliminaries (with two ten-point losses, to Dorman A and State College Area A). The team finished the playoffs in an eighth-place tie. In the 2004 Houston tournament, Central finished as the top 6-4 team (by PP20H) after the preliminaries, en route to another eighth-place playoff finish.

In 2005, Central moved up to Class AAAA. Despite two players being named to the All-State team, Central finished fourth in the higher classification. Central returned in 2006 to win the AAAA title.

Individual Awards

Central-Macon had several team members named to GATA All-State teams as voted by coaches in each classification.
