Willie Chen has been playing collegiate and open quizbowl since probably 1997 or 1998, all while affiliated with the UCI club as an undergraduate, graduate student, and alumnus. He has run the club with varying degrees of an iron fist since the club started before relinquishing some authority in 2007 and even more in 2008. Willie has directed a large but unknown amount of tournaments, including 2002 ACF Regionals, and even more tournaments have been directed by other UCI club members under Willie's supervision.
