Clay Davenport was the captain of the 1986 College Bowl NCT champion Wisconsin team and later a player and coach for the UVa team in the 1990s. He is now one of the world's leading sabermetricians and was a co-founder of Baseball Prospectus. In his other career as a meteorologist, he invented the Hydro-Estimator. With Pat Matthews, he created the quizbowl statistic "Points Created", designed to counter shadow effects.
