La Jolla High School is a public high school in a north suburb of San Diego. It competes actively in the SoCal Quizbowl scene as well as Academic League. Their current A team notably comprises of the "dangerous duo" Vincent Doehr and Erica Liu, who have also been referred to as the "triumphal duet" and the "legendary duo". Other current notable players include James Malouf, who has deep knowledge in random subjects, Clay Halpert, who specializes in trash and operas, and Charlie Mann, who specializes in mythology, philosophy, and being underwhelming.
Tournaments Hosted
LJHS used to host a yearly high school tournament called Rocket Surgery in the spring that was the largest in Southern California. More recently they hosted the 2012 NAQT Southern California State Championship and spring invitationals called GALP and Cobalt in 2013 and 2014 respectively. They are set to host another tournament in the spring of 2015.
