La Jolla High School is a public high school in a north suburb of San Diego. It competes actively in the SoCal Quizbowl scene as well as Academic League. Their current A team is regarded as one of the top teams in Southern California after consistent tournament finishes and a t-34th finish at the 2014 HSNCT. La Jolla has been reluctant to play a full A team so far in the 2014-15 season, but in has shown itself to be reasonably competent, not placing below third at any of its rare sightings.
Tournaments Hosted
LJHS used to host a yearly high school tournament called Rocket Surgery in the spring that was the largest in Southern California. More recently they hosted the 2012 NAQT Southern California State Championship and spring invitationals called GALP and Cobalt in 2013 and 2014 respectively. They are set to host another tournament in the spring of 2015, named PI for its start time of 9:26 AM, 3/14/15.
