La Jolla High School is a public high school in a north suburb of San Diego. It competes actively in the SoCal Quizbowl scene as well as Academic League. Their current A team is regarded as one of the top teams in Southern California after consistent tournament finishes and a t-34th finish at the 2015 HSNCT. They finished 2nd at the NAQT SoCal State Championship with a incomplete team.
Tournament Results
Because of the competitiveness of the SoCal circuit, La Jolla only won one tournament in 2015, finishing second to eventual HSNCT champions Arcadia four times. At HSNCT, La Jolla faced a very difficult prelim schedule, playing seven teams that finished t-34 or higher. After going 7-3 in prelims, La Jolla lost in the third round of playoffs to fellow SoCal team Torrey Pines 360-375 to finish t-34 for the second year.
Tournaments Hosted
LJHS used to host a yearly high school tournament called Rocket Surgery in the spring that was the largest in Southern California. More recently they hosted the 2012 NAQT Southern California State Championship and spring invitationals called GALP and Cobalt in 2013 and 2014 respectively. They hosted PI Invitational in March 2015
