Season

The two time state championship Varsity Academic team has excelled this season, winning both the KMO Michigan State Title and the NAQT State Championship. Its overall record for the season was 103-6. It has earned nine state championships and finished second in three more. In fact, for the entire 2004-2005 school year, this team has not finished lower than second place in any tournament in which it has competed.

Their hard work and drive was evident in an exciting come from behind win against Okemos High School to take the state title. Coming from behind in the final minutes of the match, the team clawed its way out of a 200 point deficit and managed to post a 905-870 victory. This was the highest scoring single game in Michigan State Tournament history. For their performance in the KMO State Tournament, Senior David Budde and junior Joel Knight were elected as members of the All-State Academic Team.

Often playing against other school’s varsity teams, the Catholic Central Junior Varsity Academic Team has posted a season-long record of 56-16. They have taken first place honors in 3 out of the 4 Junior Varsity Tournaments this year, and they have never finished lower than third place in any Junior Varsity Tournament in which they have competed. Against junior varsity competition, the JV team has a record of 33-1.

The freshman team took first place honors in the Fall and Spring Michigan Knowledge Master Open Tournaments.
