East Harrison refers to a cooperative sponsorship between Cainsville and Ridgeway, two small high schools in eastern Harrison County in northwest Missouri that compete together in MSHSAA scholar bowl competition.
In limited circumstances, MSHSAA by-law 1.4 allows two member high schools in adjacent districts to cooperatively sponsor activities when both schools cannot support their own independent programs, with approval of the MSHSAA Board of Directors. With enrollments of 26 and 22 in grades 9-12, Cainsville and Ridgeway are both among the 10 smallest of nearly 600 MSHSAA member schools as of the 2016-2018 classification cycle. The cooperative sponsorship between the two schools has been in effect for Scholar Bowl since at least the 2013-2014 season, if not earlier.
Under MSHSAA by-laws, one school is designated to administer the combined program, so the teams are officially considered to be either "Ridgeway with Cainsville" or "Cainsville with Ridgeway" in MSHSAA results. The combined program has used the name "East Harrison" in tournaments. [1][2]
East Harrison won the MSHSAA Class 1 District 13 tournament in 2017, which is believed to be the first time a co-op team has won a district.
