Major and minor categories

IHSA uses this terminology to distinguish top-level categories (science, math, etc.) from second-level categories (physics, chemistry, algebra, geometry, etc.). It is confusing to use the terms to mean something different here. The current phrasing of the page also implies the identified top-level ("major"; sic) categories are no longer in use, but they are, modulo nonsubstantive naming tweaks and substantive weight reallocations. Pretend I don't have an MS in Physics, and just in case anyone else reads this ... please translate everything after the second sentence. Tom Egan (talk) 01:16, 28 June 2017 (CDT)
