General Shiva Oswal is a resident of Cupertino, CA, and is a Quiz Bowl fanatic. He has participated in Middle School and High School Tournaments at the local, State and National level.

Shiva first started playing Quiz Bowl in 5th grade and was instantly hooked. He is best known, however, for his achievements at the 2016 International History Olympiad where he medaled 10 times. Shiva contributed almost a third to the CA medal count and was fortunate to be the player who took home the most medals.

Shiva first entered national prominence when he became the youngest player to be an All Star Player at the 2015 Middle School National Championship Tournament (MSNCT-15). In 2016, Shiva led Team Pi-oneers to the first ever clean sweep of the National Academic Bee and Bowl. He was the triple crown champion, placing first in the 2016 National Academic Bee, National Academic Bowl, and Science Bee tournaments.

In January 2017, NAQT began its program of honoring top teams and players each week. As part of this program, Shiva was named the first ever NAQT Middle School Player of the Week for the week of Jan 7, 2017. Later on, Shiva was also named to the first ever National Middle School Quiz Bowl A Team for 2017.

Team Information Shiva Oswal leads and is the captain of Team Pi-oneers and has participated in NAQT’s MSNCT for the years 2015, 2016 and 2017.

As captain of Team Pi-oneers’ Middle School team, Shiva helped lead the team to an impressive finish in two consecutive years. Team Pi-oneers was part of the top 10 Middle School teams in the nation for 2016 (MSNCT-16) and 2017 (MSNCT-17).
