Shiva Oswal (Class of 2022) is a resident of Cupertino, CA, and is an avid Quiz Bowl Player. He has participated in Middle School and High School tournaments at the local, state, and national level. Shiva first started playing Quiz Bowl in 5th grade.
Notable Achievements
Shiva first entered national prominence when he became the youngest player to be an All Star Player at the 2015 Middle School National Championship Tournament (MSNCT-15). Since then, he has been a National All Star at the MSNCT in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
In January 2017, NAQT began its program of honoring top teams and players each week. As part of this program, Shiva was named the first-ever NAQT Middle School Player of the Week for the week of Jan 7, 2017. Later, Shiva was also named to the National Middle School Quiz Bowl A Team for 2017.
Shiva created history at the 2018 MSNCT when he soloed the MSNCT, suffering his only loss to Midtown Classical in the prelims. Three weeks later, he again created history, leading Pi-oneers to two more solo tournament victories, this time at the National History Bowl and the National Academic Bowl, respectively. He was the National Middle School Player of the Year for 2018.
Team Pi-oneers
Shiva Oswal is the captain of Team Pi-oneers and has participated in over 40 tournaments (with fellow team members Josh Rollin and Dalton Manbeck-Mosig) in the years 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Team Stanford Online
In 2018, Stanford Online (an online school based in the Bay Area) began playing in the Nor Cal Quiz Bowl circuit.
