Gioia

There are three members of the Gioia (JOY-ah) family who have been active in quiz bowl: Ted Gioia, his cousin Thomas Gioia, and Thomas's father (also named Ted).

Ted (the younger)'s father, Dana, is a poet and writer. Thomas's father Ted (the elder) is a jazz historian. Dana and the elder Ted are brothers - thus, Thomas and Ted (the younger) are first cousins and Thomas and Ted (the elder) are nephew and uncle.
