Geography Monstrosity was the first-ever novelty tournament composed entirely of geography questions and was run as a side event to the 2009 HSNCT. The tournament was announced by Jeff Hoppes, edited by George Stevens, and directed by Bryce Durgin and Katy Peters, who won praise for organizing and running the tournament on short notice. The tournament featured superpowers of 20 points as well as regular powers of 15 points and had no negs.
