Casey Steele is noted for holding the record at Honaker for most points scored in a single season in the VHSL format. His record stands at 3,155 points.
What makes Steele's record even more amazing is that during the previous year, he only amassed a total of 85 points. This turnaround has been recognized as the sole reason for Honaker having a successful '05-'06 season, which ended with the team's first win at the VHSL State Tournament.
For his leadership ability, Steele was given the nickname "The Lion" by Coach Alex Zachwieja.
