Mario Dumont is the leader of the Action démocratique du Québec, the current Official Opposition in Quebec.

Dumont lost the 1986 finals of Genies en herbe, costing his team the chance to go to France and compete against their champions. Describing his fit after losing, Paul Wells of Maclean's wrote: "He hit his head against a wall repeatedly, and took to throwing pocket change around the room as his teammates looked on. He blamed himself, but also Radio-Canada, which, thanks to a technicians' strike, hadn't broadcast the tournament." [1] Dumont apparently needed the lights and cameras to perform well, rather than desks and buzzers.
