Former All-State (first team 2009, second team 2008, All-Sectional 2008–09) player for Auburn High School and finalist at the 2008 Scobol Solo. He is known for giving Chinese names of commonly asked about places like Macau, which usually ends up in a time-wasting protest. Along with John Brown and Siva Sundaram, he helped Auburn achieve its only IHSA state championship in 2008. With Sundaram in 2009, he led Auburn to a 7th place finish at the NAQT HSNCT and an 18th place finish at the PACE NSC.
