Dunlap High School is a public high school located near Peoria, Illinois. Coached by Aaron Barrington for over thirty years, the Eagles have represented the best quiz bowl program in the Peoria-area as perennial contenders since the late 1990's.
Dunlap competes in Class AA, the "large school" division, of the Illinois High School Association’s State Championship Series. Most notably, at the 2017 IHSA State Championship Tournament, Dunlap upset Stevenson, who were favorites to win the class AA division. In that tournament, Dunlap would finish 4th behind Auburn. The team also competes in the Mid-Illini Conference & Peoria Area League.
To date, Dunlap is the Peoria area's most recent State finalist & the first Class 2A finalist in over 20 years. By virtue of their enduring success, Dunlap ranks as the best all-time quiz bowl program in the region.
Many Eagles' alumni have gone to play collegiately including, Tim McElroy '03 (Chicago) & Paul Lee '15 (UPenn/WUSTL).
One source of Dunlap's success is the strength of its junior high programs (Dunlap Middle, Dunlap Valley), which have shown equal, if not greater, success at the State & local levels over the years. Several of these players have gone on to play for IMSA.
