Herrin High School is a public school in Herrin, Illinois located in southern Illinois near Carterville & Johnston City. It competes in Class AA, the "large school" division, of the Illinois High School Association's State Championship series. The Tigers also compete in the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference & have been participants on WSIU's Hi-Q.
The Tigers program pre-dates modern Illinois Scholastic Bowl founded in 1980 by IHSSBCA Hall of Fame coach, Anna Morris. Morris along with Brenda Bratcher of Carterville were influential in organizing the competitive Southern Illinois circuit in the 1980's & 1990's. During her tenure Coach Morris compiled over 500 wins until her retirement in 1994.
Following Morris' retirement, Herrin remained competitive throughout the 2000's. The Tigers were promoted to IHSA Class 2A in 2012.
