Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering (ASCTE)
Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering, often referred to as Alabama Cyber Tech or ASCTE, is a public magnet high school located in Huntsville, AL. The school's Quiz Bowl team began in 2021 with Kerri Watson as the head coach and has since achieved great success at various state and national tournaments.
Accomplishments
- Won the Division I Alabama Varsity State Championship in 2024, with Tate Osborne as the highest individual scorer.
- Placed 2nd in the Open Division of NAQT's 2023 and 2024 small school national tournaments, with Tate Osborne also being the highest individual scorer at each tournament.
Current Players
Tate Osborne: Captain and player for Literature, History, Science, and Current Events on the ASCTE varsity A-team. Previously played and captained the A-team at Monrovia Middle School. Senior.
Leo Osborne: Fine Arts and Philosophy player for the ASCTE varsity A-team, also captain of the ASCTE junior varsity A-team. Tate's younger brother. Sophomore.
Brooks Phillips: Geography, Psychology, Economics, American History, and Sports player for the ASCTE varsity A-team. Senior. Previously attended Monrovia Middle School but did not participate in Quiz Bowl there.
Eugene Park: Mythology and Mathematics player for the ASCTE varsity A-team. Senior. Previously played for Liberty Middle School.
B-Team
The current ASCTE B-team is led by Captain Jacob Wilkinson and includes players such as Anders Johnson, Brycen Borden, William Mitchell, Jack Ryan, and Christopher Esker. When they play as the junior varsity team, Leo Osborne captains.
