Run by something called "Griffin Experience," this was a national that tournament took place at St. Louis University at least twice in the mid-90s and featured cash prizes for top teams.
The name "Scholastic Showdown" was previously used for a televised high school quizbowl show in the central Illinois area in the late 1970s and as a generic name for high school quizbowl in Indiana in the early 1990s, which may be related to its use at this event.
