William Woods Academic Tournament
The William Woods Academic Tournament was a high school quiz bowl tournament hosted by William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. Due to scheduling, there was no tournament in 2009, though future tournaments are not out of the question.
Organization
The tournament was established in 2008, when South Callaway high school senior and quiz bowl captain Alex Dzurick contacted Dr. Katricia Pierson, the head of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, at WWU about hosting a tournament to help prepare local high schools for the MSHSAA district championships. Pierson responded with great interest, and after talking to Dzurick and securing sanctioning from MSHSAA, organized the first annual tournament.
Inaugural Tournament
The first tournament was held on March 29, 2008, on the campus of WWU in Fulton. For more information, please see this article from the WWU website.
