This Tournament Goes to 11 (commonly abbreviated TTGT11) is a hybrid themed quizbowl tournament. It is edited by Iowa, and usually mirrored at different locations around the country.

Format

TTGT11 is noted for its unusual format. Each round, teams of up to 8 people are split up into two teams of up to 4 people to play on two separate themed packets. This means that the tournament requires about double the number of packets of a regular tournament to play, and that not everyone gets to play on all of the packets. Teams earn one point by winning a match, and additional points are added based on either points scored or point differential, up to a maximum of 11 points per team per match, or 22 per team per round. Generally, the winning team is decided by the team that has the highest combined points, although there is sometimes some variation to this formula.

TTGT11 strives to be two thirds academic, although it rarely lives up to this goal.

2007 - TTGT11 IX

In 2007, the tournament was held at Iowa, Maryland and UC Irvine. Iowa's Paul Drube was the head editor, while Irvine's Ray Anderson edited most of the packets from the west coast. Mike Bentley and other people from Maryland including Charles Meigs and Jonathan Magin also contributed to the editing of the tournament.

At the Iowa site, Illinois finished atop a field of nine teams. Wisconsin came in second, while Drake came in third.

The Maryland mirror ended in a tie as Wilmington Charter and Delaware both had 22 points. Since the Delaware team had five Charter alums, the teams declined to play final. At UC Irvine, UCLA won its second consecutive West Coast TTGT11 title.

This incarnation was generally regarded as the best TTGT11 yet, although some packets were criticized for being too transparent (Water), too hard (Geography) or too stupid (Harry Potter).
