Mr. Swidak implied, from Mr. Couture's
message:
"I suppose the sentence could be interpreted as
saying the Terrier Tussle
is the longest-running
tournament held in February."
to which Dom
replied:
"Actually, even this is not accurate. On account of NAQT's
occupation of
the February 7, 1998 date for their
sectional tournaments, Terrier Tussle
VII was held on
December 6, 1997."
Well, perhaps the best claim
that could be made is that the Tussle is the longest
continuously running tournament held in the Boston city
limits.
By the by, didn't this claim get made LAST year, and
weren't the same examples (Southeastern and Terrapin)
brought up as longer running events then too? Maybe its
because the Tussle uses Roman Numerals, and so appears to
be more of an institution (like the Superbowl, the
Olympics, etc.)
