Howdy, all-- Valencia Community College in Orlando, FL, will host its sixth annual fall tournament, named the "Delta Burke" after our most famous attendee, on November 8 and 9. The tournament is open to all community college teams (sorry, no novice teams from four-year schools, due to a typically crowded field). Packets are ACF extra-light genuine draft style, mostly written by me. If you'd like to submit a packet, contact me for distribution guidelines, but suffice it to say they're just like ACF's except that a little pop culture never hurt anyone. The entry fee is $125, with a whopping $50 discount for submitting a quality packet by October 19. I'll also knock off ten clams for bringing a good buzzer system, and the second team from the same school only costs $100, with the same discounts available to that team as mentioned above. I'd be happy to give the full set of this year's questions, plus last year's, to anyone who'd like to submit a freelance packet; just keep in mind that the difficulty level should be around NAQT HS national championship level--I can provide past examples if you're interested. I'm very interested in drawing teams from outside the Fl-Ga-Al area; if you're coming from far enough away that you have to fly, I'll waive the entry fee. And for any of the rest of you four-year folks who are reading this, if you know of community college quizbowl programs in your area whose representatives aren't subscribers to this list, please pass on the info.
