To answer your other question, this year, as always, NAQT chose the ICT host that would be able to help us *run the best tournament*. UCLA and Caltech submitted a strong bid featuring convenient buildings, experienced staff, stable programs, and all of the other things that make for a successful tournament. The decision was not made out of a sense of "geographical fairness" or obligation to the California teams--had NAQT felt that to be an strong consideration, we would probably have gone for a West Coast ICT before now. NAQT did research travel fares before making a decision and found that fares to Los Angeles compared reasonably to fares to other potential sites and to past hosts of the tournament; we would never choose a host that a substantial fraction of teams could not travel to, but we don't believe that that is the case for Los Angeles. We were able to find $200 to $250 fares from airports within driving distance of most teams. I have to admit that I don't recognize you from your handle; whence would you be coming to the tournament? -- R.
