Reading a number of the recent posts about the future of the circuit, especially writing questions and their format in packet-submission tournaments, I have noticed a whole lot of College Bowl (CBI) bashing. Why is everyone so quick to compare a bad, easy packet as "CBI"-ish? (Wait, never mind... hehe) But the truth is, for an organization that the quiz bowl community regards as damnably inferior to be able to charge $60 per game (10 game purchase minimum), to charge $225 to sign up for Regionals (at least in Region 12), and to enforce the cumbresome tournament bureaucracy while still using the aforementioned urine-poor questions, and get over 200 teams/schools to compete every year and spend these exorbitant amounts of money, CBI must be doing *something* right... In order for the circuit to advance, we must appeal to the Henderson States and the Arkansas States and the Louisiana States out there who do not want to spend $75 to attend an invitational but will be glad to spend almost $1000 (after all said and done) to attend CBI regionals. In short, maybe we *should* mimic CBI... Joshua Hill (my fingers are gonna hate me for typing this wastelessness, but here goes: "Not speaking on behalf of the Arkansas Quiz Bowl Team." There, happy now?)
