>From someone who has but together a first year team, I can say that I honestly PREFER the ACF-questions to all other formats. Unfortunately our team just got started... we went to COTKU, where we did ALOT better than we expected, having practiced only once EVER (we got 3rd in Div.II)... But because of our lateness in getting started, we are unable to got to ACF Fall. And while everyone seems to tell me that a new team like ours might not want to go to ACF- District, that is the tournament that I am most looking forward to. So what if we're gonna have to play the ungodly Div. I teams. That's how you get better, you play against the best and see what it is that you need to aspire to. As for the difficulty of ACF... I have looked at alot of the questions in the ACF archive, and they're not quite as bad as everyone says... The bonuses are ungodly, I'll grant you that. But the Tossups aren't impossible. Even ACF nationals have several tossups per round that I'm sure I could get. You really have to ask yourself "What makes a question hard?" The answer, of course, is whether or not you know it. Therefore, the difficulty of a question is not only the fault of the writer, but the player's fault for lack of knowledge. Then again, I might be wrong... I consider myself quite informed when it comes to Lit, art, and music... and I do HATE it when asked about an author, artist, or musician that I've never even HEARD of... But that's my fault, not yours. :) Anyway, sorry to babble on so long... just some thoughts I had. -Lee Henry Athens State University (In ALABAMA, not Georgia!!!)
