That's the one I'm most > familiar with. you are right about one thing--kilimanjaro is probably more famous than the three that were asked. but those three really are pretty famous. killers is probably the best-known nick adams story, and elephants is maybe the most famous example of hemingway's style (later used extensively in the sun also rises) of layering tons of meaning just below the surface, so that what appears to be a couple having drinks at a cafe is actually a tense argument about whether to have an abortion. i don't mean to diss benet's, lest i get on raj's bad side, but a lit reference is really only a reference. one of the really nice things about ACF fall was that a lot of the literature questions were about things that many people--even freshmen and sophomores--have actually read. hemingway is a perfect example; as jerry mentioned, a lot of people read hemingway in high school, and many more in college. the very canonical stories, and i guess his three famous novels (sun, farewell, for whom) plus old man & the sea, are all very askable for that reason. that doesn't make hemingway more important than poe, however, whatever any of your lit references say. :P joon
