Have you ever glanced through a set of tournament questions and thought to yourself, "Geez, *I* could do better than that!" I've had that reaction every now and then. Have you ever wanted to write an entire tournament by yourself? I have -- especially when other people do it -- but I know from experience that it is almost impossible for one person to write polished academic questions of high quality across the categorical board. Trash questions pose their own challenge, but for some reason I find that I can write them somewhat faster than I write academic questions. Cutting to the chase, I believe that I can write a high-quality, well-rounded, *fun* set of trash questions that will greatly enhance your quiz experience. If enough of you agree, then the challenge will be on. I would like to write a set of ten (10) top-notch trash packs (21 & 21 per pack), to be sold at a $25 flat rate and delivered by e-mail no later than March 31. (Hey, that's right before TRASHionals! That means a bunch of teams need practice fodder!) If I can get at least eight (8) people to express their honest belief that people will buy these questions, then the challenge is *on*. =) (This initial expression of interest is NOT a commitment to buy, but I'd prefer that you that you express interest only if you actually might make that purchase.) A quick note on my writing experience: Seven years of contributing to my college teams' pack submitted tournaments (four at Harvard, three at BU); chief pack editor for five invitationals; over 2,000 questions contributed to NAQT, of which a huge chunk are in trash categories (or at least trashy =)). I understand that many people find the appeal of trash to be a certain eccentricity, and that by the same token you don't want a tournament to be full of one person's pet topics. On the first point, believe me, these questions WILL be suitably inspired -- you won't regret playing on these. On the second point, I am convinced of my versatility -- and tempted to offer a money-back guarantee. You'll get no repeats in this set, and CERTAINLY no Pokemon burnout. ;-) So what do people think? Matt (Speaking only for myself and not on behalf of anybody.)
