This is a couple of notes about NAQT eligibility for the quickly approaching NAQT SCT tournaments. Firstly, any student who needs to clarify his or her eligibility to compete in NAQT Sectional Tournaments (or who wishes to ask that an exception to the rules be made for him or her because of extenuating circumstances) needs to contact NAQT at eligibility_at_... no later than Saturday, February 1, 2003. The eligibility rules can be found here: <http://www.naqt.com/collegiate-eligibility.html> <http://www.naqt.com/collegiate-eligibility.html> http://www.naqt.com/collegiate-eligibility.html Secondly, a quick reminder about a change (effective for 2003 SCTs) to NAQT rules for continuing eligibility in Division 2 for players past their first season of intercollegiate quizbowl play. For 2002, the D2 eligibility rules (in full at <http://www.naqt.com/division-ii.html> http://www.naqt.com/division-ii.html) are summarized: In short, the policy is that an undergraduate may continue to play Division II until he or she is on a team that qualifies for the ICT or four years pass, whichever comes first. For 2003 an addition to the rules (a new "4." under the full rules) will make that summary: In short, the policy is that an undergraduate retains Division II eligibility for up to a maximum of four years, either until he or she is on a team that qualifies for the ICT or has twice played in SCTs on Division I teams. Thank you for your attention. If you have any question regarding this message, or the forthcoming sectional tournaments, please email naqt_at_... as soon as possible. Craig D. Barker for the NAQT eligibility committee [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
