Congratulations to the University of Michigan on winning Penn Bowl for the second time in three years, and to the University of California/Berkeley, who had gone undefeated before the finals. Also, congratulations to high scorers Matt Weiner of Virginia Commonwealth, with over 100 PPG, and Roger Craig of Delaware, with over 90. Detailed results--and commentary--will be forthcoming over the next week or so. And, now, my thanks: * First, and most importantly, thanks to Texas A&M (Chris Romero, Susan Mitchell, Candace Benefiel, and Trey Morris) for being willing to provide hundreds of questions for the tournament, and for foregoing the chance to win the tournament in so doing. And, to make this clear--the Texas A&M team at Penn Bowl WOULD have been eligible to win the tournament had they not written the playoffs, and they ARE eligible for NAQT. * Second, much thanks to my longtime collaborator, Tom Chuck (Duke), and Penn's Brooke Newborn, for their invaluable assistance in running the stat room and keeping me sane. * Last--but most emphatically not least--I would like to thank the following freelance moderators who gave up their time to help us out: Dan Blim David Bykowski Jessie Connolly Edward Epsen Akiva Fox Steve Frappier Sarah Harriman Mike Hoey-Lukakis Ahmed Ismail Augustine Kim Alex Richman Rebecca Rubert Anna and Jen from Bryn Mawr [If I forgot anyone, my sincerest apologies.] I have much more to say over the next few days; starting with a couple of announcements, which I will make in a separate post. Samer Ismail Tournament Director, Penn Bowl 12
