Tom Michael did, as usual, a great job running the regional, though
we weren't happy with the number of byes- hopefully we can go back to
a full round robin next year. I thought the questions were fairly
good, the only dreadful one that I remember being a 30 point bonus on
pick out the James Bond movie from a group of movie titles.
The tournament was divided into two brackets, and both Georgia and
Florida went undefeated in their brackets, and both South Florida and
Florida State finished with one loss, both to the team ahead of them.
These were the results of the playoffs:
Rd 1: Florida def. Florida State Georgia def. South Florida
Rd 2: Florida def Georgia. South Florida def. Florida State
Rd 3: South Florida def Georgia
Rd 4: Florida def South Florida to win.
South Florida played very well, surprising everyone by defeating
Georgia the second time in the playoffs. Southern Miss, a non-circuit
team, also played very well, and it is unfortunate that few of the
CBI teams are regulars at other tournaments, because many of them
would do quite well- better than some regulars.
