While the tie breakers Mr. Murphy speaks of were widely used in the past, they have not been used at an ACU-I College Bowl Regional Championship Tournament for the past two years. Advancement to playoffs is based on: 1) won-loss record, then if w-l record is tied 2) head-to-head, then, if a tie is still not resolved 3) total net points per toss-up heard, to state it simply. If any ACU-I College Bowl RCT used total points or ppg average as tie-breakers this year, ACU-I College Bowl Program Team Chair Don Tucker needs to be notified. Don, his predecessor Frank Gencur, the ACU-I Program Team, and the College Bowl Company, Inc. have worked very hard for the past several years to institute standardized RCT formats, "minimum number of games" standards, and fair timed-round tie-breakers across all ACU-I Regions. This has been in direct response to feedback elicited from tournament participants. Other improvements, such as the new software used for this year's RCT's to make stats available to teams more accurately and quicker, have also occurred. Further changes for future RCT's may occur as a result of evaluations received from this set of tournaments; the Program Team will be meeting quite soon in Chicago.
