The largest component of College Bowl's "multicultural" questions seem to be about African-American culture and history, perhaps because the company also writes questions for HCASC for historically black colleges. College Bowl also likes to ask about civil rights movements, both current and historical, both in the United States and abroad. Current events may not be weighted as heavily as they used to be, but over the years, CBCI has done a good job of picking questions about international stories, not only those that make the front pages (which NAQT is also good at) but also under-the-radar stories about things like results of referenda, or status of ethnic minorities, that can be more instructive and interesting than just the name of the leader and the ruling party.
