Basically, I think the problem here boils down to this: Both DePauw
and Notre Dame were undefeated by teams other than each other.
DePauw beat Notre Dame twice; Notre Dame beat DePauw twice. Then
Notre Dame was declared the winner.
I'm not going to denounce the idea of a finals match; let them have a
finals match if they want; but at this point, what we're looking at
is simply not a win for Notre Dame; it's the clearest example of a
tie one could ask for. If they wanted a finals match, they should
have made ND win three games and break the tie. Simple.
