the difference between science and history is that in your ordinary
science class there will be mentions of famous scientists within
concepts (newton's laws of motion, kepler's laws, etc.) and there
will frequently in the little blue margin bar be a biosketch of
famous scientists.
by contrast, douglas s. freeman is rarely mentioned in most u.s.
history textbooks and is by and large unknown outside the wonky
history world. and the little biosketches are about famous marginal
characters in history, as opposed to famous historians. (i mention
him because i thought it'd be a neat idea to include a question about
him in last year's scholastic bowl sets.)
