Sending out a feeler, since last time we audaciously just announced a tournament and got almost no response. Hopefully this is not considered too close to the actual date. Northwestern University would like to hold a junior bird or undergraduate tournament in the spring, but we'd like to know if anyone is actually interested in attending. This would be a no- packet-submission tournament. Questions: 1. Is there a date that works for a significant number of teams? - I know April 26 is both CBI Nationals and DUCK Bowl, at the very least, but if enough people are not going to either one of those, we might try it. May 10 I have heard of nothing for, but while this is still school in session at NU, I suspect it is not in many other places. Is May 10 too late? Is April 26 too crowded? 2. Is there, either way, enough interest in such a tournament? - The spring to me has always seemed woefully devoid of all but national tournaments, but that again may be the difference between a quarter system and the usual semesters. Are people even looking for tournaments in this time of year (and if you are, does Chicago's May 3 tournament already fill the void such that you wouldn't attend another not wholly dissimilar tournament)? Please send all responses to r-flaxman at northwestern dot edu. We appreciate any and all feedback on this matter. Thanks, Robert Flaxman Quiz Bowl treasurer Northwestern University
