Hello everyone, this post is to announce that ACF Nationals for 2004 will occur on the weekend of Saturday, April 17th, and that I will be the head editor for said event (hopefully some co-editors will be announced when I can determine who is available and interested in helping out). As such I invite teams/organizations who are interested in hosting this tournament to email me at eberdich at umich dot edu over the next few months. Unfortunately things did not run as smoothly as Raj would have liked this year, and next year's version of the Championship tournament will attempt to correct these various problems. Be sure to email him about any concerns you may have had with the tourney, so that he can pass those on to me. But I can promise that there will certainly be a tie-break in place before the tournament begins and much greater attention to seeding (a problem that I think will also help to resolve Mr. Frankel's problems with the D2 title-- in addition, per Mr. Frankel's suggestion I think ACF will certainly consider introducing a playoff for the top D2 teams). Personally, as a player, I too was frustrated by the speed (or lack thereof) at which things moved this weekend. I also thought that the early rounds of the tournament were a bit uneven in terms of difficulty and quality of writing. These inconsistencies seemed to be ironed out as the day wore on and I thought that the set turned out to be a solid effort overall that included many outstanding questions. Again, many thanks to Raj, the teams that sent packets, and the freelance writers who helped out. Finally, it was a pleasure to face Berkeley in the final, they were a great opponent and are now great champions. I hope to hear from some of you soon, Ezequiel Berdichevsky
