I'm sorry I was using a messed up calendar earlier : Nationals will be held on the weekend of the 10th of April 2004, and there may be friday night play if enough participants are interested, though I think a more experienced venue will allow for a more punctual end to the tourney next time around. And while I appreciate all of the comments, and I'm sure Raj does as well, I do have to remind people that ACF, fortunately or unfortunately (depending on how you look at it), is not a company. We are some players who care about this format and try to do a good job running the tournaments for others who would like to play them. We don't get paid per question, we spend a ton of time editing and rewriting at the expense of our studies and personal lives (though of course we enjoy it also), and there are no full time staff. In a sense, each tourney is its own entity, linked by the style of questions and the submission format. Though I guess it would be super-cool to have a set stable of readers/statwizards/bracket masters, we don't. This depends more on the sites at which each individual tourney is held, and when only certain teams volunteer to help us out in that way, then some problems can arise. But I, and I assume my fellow ACF editors, will strive to ensure, as much as we possibly can, that the sites that host tournaments under the ACF umbrella can do the job. Again, I don't mean to sound defensive here, many of the points that people have raised so far are certainly legitimate, and as Mr. Greenstein suggested I will be much more hands-on next year (and thought Raj should have been moreso this year), but I also think there are ways in which some expectations should be tempered by some of the logistical limitations that arise when one person is essentially responsible for running a nationals. Thanks, and keep any suggestions coming, Ezequiel (who's talking for Subash, Kelly, Raj, and Andrew for at least part of this email)
