<< I would assume as well as any once-a-year squad in MI does... Does anyone have news/stats/gossip for me? I'm out of the loop... Have pity on a poor Michigan Yankee in Queen Lizzie's Court! :) >> I don't recall off the top of my head....Michigan is region 9? Or am I mistaken? Anyhow. Does anyone know whether Alma College has even bothered to send a team to the RCT's in the last howevermany years? It would seem like there's more than enough interest in these once-a-year schools to become at the very least twice-or-thrice-a-year schools (considering the # of tournaments that are in a few hour's driving distance from places like Alma and Allendale and Big Rapids and such)....but, obviously, what is NEEDED is some student at these institutions who has the organizational skills to get things going, and the willpower to go against ... "institutional static inertia". I certainly never had the wherewithall to get things organized nor did I have the gusto to fight against that inertia which I most certainly perceived as existing very strongly at a small private liberal-arts institution such as Alma (though, in all fairness, I never had a clue about the extent of College Bowl until late in my junior year when I was bored and should have been studying for my exams/finishing my history papers but instead was killing time by my virgin explorations into browsing the Internet and Usenet via Gopher). Sure, I wish I could have had the chance to represent Alma College in getting RUTSed by scores like 495-30 and 505-110 by such school as UChicago and the U of M. I'm sure there's a quorum of at least four students at just about every institution of higher learning in the United States who would be equally interested in being involved (or much more involved) in playing quiz bowl on an intercollegiate basis. It's a shame that so many don't get the opportunity, that so many aren't aware of the opportunity, and that so many are not aware that they really don't have to do all THAT much to become full participants in this opportunity. mak
